Method
- Place all ingredients into a medium-large saucepan along with 1 litre water, bring to a simmer, ensuring sugar dissolves.
- Turn down the heat and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
- Cool, then strain through a fine sieve.
- Use 400ml (approx. half) of the syrup per bottle of wine (750ml), heat and serve.
